Top 10 Things to do in Gozo

As always, this list is based mainly on general consensus in books, magazines, websites and blogs – weighted a little by our own experiences.

10 Heart of Gozo Museum ‘Il-Hagar’:  Beautifully laid out multi-media museum featuring many exhibits from St George’s Church

9 Calypso Cave:  Overlooking Ramla Bay, and said to be the cave where Calypso kept Odysseus a prisoner in Homer’s ‘The Odyssey’.  (As all involved were just characters in a book, this is unlikely to be factually correct)

8 St John the Baptist Church, Xewkija: Impressive Rotunda dominates the oldest village in Gozo.

7 Marsalforn:  Seaside town full of cafes and restaurants, plus an artificial sandy beach.

6 Ramla Bay:  One of the most picturesque and unspoiled beaches in Malta

5 Ta ‘Pinu Basilica:  Ornate 1920’s church on the site of the national shrine to Our Lady.

4 Xlendi:  A beautiful little fishing village/tourist resort in the south of the island

3 Ggantija Temples:  Ancient temple site once believed to have been constructed by giants.

2 Cittadela, Victoria:  Fortified castle in the centre of Victoria, includes a cathedral and the old prison.

1 Blue Window, Dwejra:  Gozo’s iconic wave-sculpted arch is the number one photo-op in Malta
